What our clients have to say.

“The work that Glow Machine did for Libertas Coaching was superb. I feel that the site he designed for us truly reflects our values, capabilities and style. In addition, fast loading, great graphics, and solid analytics provided a perfect foundation for our face to the world. Highly recommended.”

Sandra Altner, Libertas Executive Coaching

“Steve created a website that was not only beautiful, visually engaging and easy to navigate for users, but also created easy-to-use tools that make updating our website enjoyable!”

Kerri Woloszyn, Merit Motion Pictures

“Working with Steve to create our website was a pleasure from start to finish. Steve was so intent on building a site that matched our wishes both from a content and design perspective. His easy going, patient and professional approach allowed my brother and I a chance to express our desires and website objectives. Steve is an excellent listener, but wasn't hesitant to offer his own suggestions and ideas. He was very honest about his timelines and allowed us ample opportunity to tweak things near the end of the process. Steve is an awesome individual. I wholeheartedly recommend his services to build your next website.”

FAQ

It’s easy to lock yourself into a template design that looks okay but doesn’t set you apart. Rather than settling for what is available, think about what your ideal would be, and work towards that.

We work with you to get to know your business, your goals for your website, and who your target audience is. Then we create a design from scratch that stands out and engages your audience.

Quality content is queen! But what does quality mean? It means your website puts people first. It means understanding your visitors and trying to help them out.

Some people will tell you that getting visitors to your site is about jamming it full of keywords. Google is on to this game. In August of this year, Google released their “Helpful Content Update.” As Google puts it: “The helpful content update aims to better reward content where visitors feel they've had a satisfying experience, while content that doesn't meet a visitor's expectations won't perform as well.”

This is why we work very hard to understand your business, your service offerings, and what your clients are actually looking for. We use this knowledge to better meet your visitor’s expectations. And our professional web content writers craft content that delivers results.

Yes. Here are three ways that accessibility matters.

1) Being inclusive is just the right thing to do (I know you know this one).

We’re not all the same, and we don’t all access the Internet the same way. Many people need to be able to increase text size or require good contrast between text and background colours. Some folks browse with keyboard only, or use screen readers. Neurological differences such as autism, epilepsy, and dyslexia also cause unique accessibility challenges. At any one time, up to 20% of your visitors have an accessibility challenge. Be proactive and serve all your visitors.

2) Like page speed, mobile friendliness and helpful content, websites that are accessible perform better on Google and are better for your business.

Accessible websites are actually good for everyone! Building an accessible website is like building a house with a good foundation and strong bones. It ensures that your website has a compliant heading and section structure, is easy to navigate, is friendly with low-bandwidth connections, is easy to see and read and, of course, includes support for screen readers and keyboard navigation. They also perform better on Google Search.

3) It's becoming a legal requirement.

As stated above, the Accessibility for Manitobans Act requires the websites of private businesses and non-profit organizations meet accessibility standards (as set out by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) by 2025. Each province in Canada has or is developing their own legislation.

In the US, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) aims to end discrimination based on differing abilities, and a number of court decisions have placed website accessibility within the scope of this act.

Our team includes individuals who rely on accessible websites every day in order to use the Internet. We also work with accessibility consultants to help us make sure our websites achieve high accessibility standards.

Automated accessibility tests are limited and can't be substituted for manual testing and remediation. However, you can do a quick automated check to get a general impression of how your site is doing.

Yes. Sometimes your visitors tell you exactly what they are looking for. If you have content that is performing very well, we can use it as a guide for other parts of your website. It’s also important to preserve that success when changing or re-building your site.

We use a number of tools provided by Google and others to make a smooth transition to your new site without losing organic search traction.

40% of visitors will abandon a website if it takes more than 2-3 seconds to load! Slow sites also get lowered in Google searches.

There are a lot of factors that go into website speed. For example, images need to be sized and compressed correctly. Your site can be slowed down by a lot of code it doesn’t need. You need quality, fast website hosting.

These are all factors we take into consideration when building a new site. Sometimes you make a trade-off between speed and important content. But keeping websites as fast as possible is always important.

You can test your page speed using Google’s own tool!
